About Me

I seek to create a collaborative connection with my clients by normalizing the human experience of pain and suffering as something that is common to all of humanity. As I get to know more about you and your experiences, I acknowledge your strengths and what you are already doing well. As you grow in awareness of your positive qualities, skills, and strengths, you will tend to feel more empowered to confront and resolve difficult situations. EMDR treatment can help to facilitate this process with a wide range of treatment concerns. With training in the field of Marriage and Family Therapy, I also give significant consideration to the relationships in your life and how they influence the dynamics of both your past and present experiences. Additionally, I have a holistic view that considers the entire person- body, mind, and spirit –with the perspective that addressing these aspects together provides the best and most effective treatment approach. I specialize in bringing a spiritual component to the therapy process by integrating principles derived from my faith in God for those who want a faith-integrated counseling experience. You are, of course, not required to share my belief system. I am committed to meeting you wherever you are on your own journey as I encourage you towards the discovery of "something new" in your life. I have a trained and certified therapy dog on staff at my physical office. He is a charming Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Dewey. Dewey earned his Canine Good Citizenship certificate endorsed by the AKC, and Dewey and I are certified as a therapy team through the Springfield Alliance of Therapy Pets (in Springfield, MO), where we continue to hold membership. You will get to meet Dewey and interact with him if you schedule in-person visits. Clients routinely tell me that interacting with Dewey is a highlight of their day. Be sure to let me know if you have allergies or any aversion to dogs so that we may address that in advance of any scheduling in the physical office.
