About Me

I was born and raised in the Chicago area and continue to live here. My husband of 31 years and I have 3 sons in their 20s and a 15 year old therapy dog, Daisy. Daisy comes to work with me nearly every day. I am a life long learner and enjoy workouts on my Peloton daily.

Education & Experience

Right after earning my BA in Psychology from DePauw University, I completed a Master's program in Counseling from the University of South Florida. I worked at a community mental health agency with teen moms and pregnant teens before moving back to the Chicago suburbs to take a job at The Children's Advocacy Center, first as a Counselor (Lake County IL) and then as a Forensic Interviewer/Assistant Director (Northwest Suburban Cook County IL). I received my PhD in 2013 in Human Services with an Emphasis in Counseling. While working towatds my PhD I became fully EMDR trained. I plan to be Certified in 2025. After working as a therapist for Allied Counseling for 5 years, I opened my own practice, specializing in trauma. In 2016, I became a provider for The Headstrong Project as well.

Professional & Volunteer Affiliations

I have been volunteering for the Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL) mostly in the fundraising arm for 25 years.
