About Me
I enjoy working directly with people and engaging the growth process together. I believe we all have the potential for healing given the right circumstances and feel it is an honor when people choose to share their story with me. I have a warm style that is sensitive to the needs of those I serve and strive to understand without judgement.
Education & Experience
I completed a Master's Degree in counseling from the Ohio University. Being heavily interested in trauma work from and early time in my career, I completed an independent research class with trauma as the focus. I went on to be trained in Psychological First Aid, the CISM model, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. For several years I was given the opportunity to train in the Neurosequential Model created by Dr. Bruce Perry and learned a great deal about the effects of trauma on the developing brain. Finally, I was able to train in EMDR which was the piece that pulled together much of my previous training and understanding of trauma. I have spent the majority of my career working with people who have a history of trauma through schools, foster care, and community settings.
Professional & Volunteer Affiliations
I am a member of Emdria and work with a private practice. In my spare time I am a volunteer for girls scouts and foster for my local humane society.
