About Me

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adults, couples, parents, and teens who are struggling with anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, family and partner communication, family of origin concerns, adjustment to life transitions, work and school stress, health issues, and other challenges. For over twenty years, I have specialized in supporting people living or working across cultures – including immigrant and migrant communities, individuals seeking refuge from community violence, expats, Foreign Service, military, and third culture kids (TCKs) and their families. I also have direct experience with and special interest in working with families affected by Type 1 Diabetes.

Education & Experience

I have a BAs in English and Spanish from the University of Texas at Austin. I taught high school for two years prior to pursuing graduate education. I received my MSW from UT Austin in 2004 with a focus in clinical social work, international social work, and conflict resolution. I completed my final clinical field work for my MSW in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where I supported community members in their recovery from the impact of sectarian violence. Over the course of my career, and prior to shifting to private practice, I have worked in community mental health, women's health, and non-profit programs with a focus on community building across a range of areas. My clinical work draws upon a variety of perspectives, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based therapies (including from MBSR and MBCT), elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I am also trained in Gottman Method Couple Therapy. I am an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Trained Therapist and welcome clients who are interested in EMDR. I am a certified mindfulness teacher with a focus on Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and a Senior Facilitator in Personal Leadership, a mindfulness-based communication framework.
