About Me
I am honored to help children who have experienced trauma. Maybe you are parenting a young child who has experienced medical challenges, grief, bullying, sexual abuse, or has witnessed something scary. Maybe you are parenting a child in or adopted from foster care (ages 6-12). With an emphasis on calming the nervous system and addressing trauma, I provide a safe place for children to explore and process their feelings. EMDR, sand tray therapy, CBT, and play therapy approaches are utilized. I have many years of experience in the mental health field including private practice as an EMDR certified trauma therapist, starting and coordinating a therapeutic foster care program in Hampton Roads, being a clinical administrator for a therapeutic foster care program in Maryland, working with children in a residential treatment facility, with children in orphanages and group homes in Nicaragua, and with Vietnamese refugees in foster care. Additionally, I served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children. I have a special place in my heart for working with these vulnerable children. I accept Medicaid, Aetna, Humana, Optum, Sentara, Tricare , and Anthem. My office can also provide a super bill if needed as an out of network provider. If you have a child in need of therapy, please give me a call at (757) 774-7405.
