About Me
Please note (as of 8/15/25): My openings are Tuesdays at 10a or 1p, Wednesdays at 3p or 4p, and Fridays at either 1p or 2p. Please inquire only if those spaces match your availability, too. Hi there! My name is Kate (she/they) and I am a neurodiverse, queer, cisgender person who is also a licensed clinical social worker (LICSW), and EMDR Certified therapist. I operate Rooted & Rising LLC where I serve as a trauma therapist with individuals and do some consulting with fellow healthcare workers, groups, & organizations. In the private practice side of my work, I specialize in supporting adolescents, young adults, and families as they address symptoms of personal & cultural trauma (namely anxiety, depression, pervasive- & post-traumatic stress, as well as navigating challenges related attachment & adjustment, identity & belonging, and grief & loss). While I work with a wide diversity of people, I tend to specialize in supporting members of the 2SLGBTQ+ communities, neurodiverse people, and those living with chronic illness or disabilities. My services are tailored to each person’s unique goals & strengths, while remaining rooted in trauma- and attachment-informed approaches further grounded by human rights, social justice, intersectional, and anti-oppressive care. Furthermore, while I typically use EMDR as the primary modality with most of my clients, I also often weave in techniques from Internal Family Systems, Narrative, Cognitive Behavioral, and Dialectical Behavior therapies. Clients most often give the feedback that my style comes across as relaxed yet engaged -- curious, thoughtful, warm, and collaborative. Above all, I am someone who believes that to make the transformative changes we seek in our lives we need relationships built on trust, empathy, authenticity (and a good bit of humor). I appreciate you taking the time to review my background and I am excited at the opportunity to get to work with & learn from you. Please bring your questions and reach out when you're ready to explore next steps together.
