About Me
I am a psychotherapist specializing in relationships, sex therapy, and trauma, often working at the intersection of all three. I use EMDR for a variety of patient needs including, but not limited to, sexual assault, domestic violence, and combat trauma. I have additional experience using EMDR with a wide range of other trauma, sexual dysfunction, difficulties in the ways that one engages in relationships, and negative views of self. I use a number of adjunct therapies including polyvagal techniques, ego state therapy, mindfulness, and hypnosis to create a well-rounded treatment plan.
Education & Experience
I am licensed in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. I received my MSW from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's School of Social Work and I primarily trained in EMDR with the EMDR Institute. I have done advanced training in EMDR/Ego State therapy and the use of hypnosis with EMDR. I have training in a wide range of other therapeutic modalities including emotionally focused, Gottman, psychodynamic, Ericksonian, humanistic, and narrative therapy. My work is informed by attachment and polyvagal theories. Additionally, I am trained in clinical hypnosis which I use as an adjunct therapy when requested and clinically appropriate. Treatment is carefully tailored to each individual.
