Kirsten Helgager, PsyD
About Me
The words that describe my style in EMDR are relationship-focused, structured, collaborative, and intuitive. I believe that when we are are suffering with our emotional well-being, it is often because of unresolved, deeply rooted experiences and memories that affect the way we think about ourselves and the world. I use what I like to call a “head and heart” approach. While I can offer tools to manage difficult emotions, I also like to use evidence based approaches like EMDR that do things differently than in traditional talk therapy. I believe modalities like EMDR safely guide people through feeling and experiencing, breaking past the “thinking brain” and allowing the mind and body to begin to heal.
Education & Experience
I graduated with a PsyD from The Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA I have been in the field since around 2007, and have worked in a variety of settings with both adults and adolescents. I have been doing EMDR-focused therapy since 2017.
