About Me

I am a certified EMDR therapist and a Consultant-in-Training. I offer consultation for individuals and groups of EMDR trained therapists who would like support and guidance in providing EMDR as well as those who are pursuing EMDR certification. I desire for therapy to be a collaborative effort with treatment designed for each unique individual that I serve. I work with children, teens, and adults. I value the power of the therapeutic relationship, which research has consistently shown to be at least as important as the type of treatment used. I draw from multiple theoretical orientations and research-proven treatment modalities although my primary modality of therapy has been shifting towards EMDR, whenever applicable over the past 5 years. I have used EMDR in treating trauma, addictive behaviors (e.g. self-injury, addictive relationships, sexual addictions...), substance use addictions, anxiety disorders, and eating disorders. I often combine play therapy interventions and sand tray with EMDR. Sense of humor is an essential therapeutic tool for me. While respecting the spiritual beliefs of all clients, I have a special interest in the integration of Christian faith and therapy, only for those desiring such integration. I have learned much from my clients over the past 3 decades and find it a privilege to journey alongside.

Education & Experience

I earned my MA in clinical psychology in 1992. I also have a certificate in the treatment of eating disorders Over the past 30 plus years I have worked in the following settings: facility specializing in treatment of sexual abuse, residential facility for children and adolescents, day treatment school for children and adolescents, a university health and counseling center, community health center serving the economically disadvantaged, a group practice, and my own practice.

Professional & Volunteer Affiliations

I volunteer in helping a local agency serving homeless families to make adjustments at all levels (board, supervisors, staff, and volunteers) to lessen the impact of secondary and primary trauma on their staff and provide training to their volunteers on a variety of mental health topics. I offer training to churches to help them create trauma informed environments, I volunteer with an agency serving first responders needing trauma treatment as well as offering discounted services to first responders.
