Laurie N. Furman, MS, MSW, LCSW
About Me
Cultural humility is critical to my approach to EMDR therapy. I provide therapy that is sensitive to each client's identities, experiences, and beliefs.
Education & Experience
I have been serving children, adolescents, and their families since 1989. I have worked in a range of settings including community mental health centers, long-term inpatient mental health psychiatric facilities, family services agencies, and private practice. I provide ongoing EMDR consultation to a variety of agencies throughout the Midwest and Southeast. I also facilitate parent training workshops and group therapy for children and their parents on such topics as grief/loss, divorce, social skills, and gifted/talented needs. I have presented more than 50 workshops and papers at local and national conferences in the area of child development, social work, and education. I have also authored and co-authored 8 articles in professional journals in the area of education, child development, and social policy including Developmental Psychology and Child Development.
