Loryann M. Nichols, MS, LMFT
About Me
My expertise comes into play in holding the space for clients to examine themselves and their relationships in such a way as to enlarge their view and their capacity for change. My experience, education and intuition allow me a razor sharp focus to see and interrupt negative patterns of interaction and collaboratively move them in a more healthful direction. Some people ask why I became a couples therapist, and my response is: "I was born a therapist." I enjoy the uniqueness of each client and their situation, how they have attempted to solve their problems, and how they are stuck. There are many situations that are similar among clients, but the interplay with each individual and their situation is infinite. Congruency for me is key. Being the person I ask others to be, holding each person with tenderness and creativity while we move toward their goals is transformative in the therapeutic process. By assisting clients in unraveling the circular nature of their relationships, facilitating healing and positive change in themselves, we create change in the couple or family. Ms. Nichols founded the Center for Couples and Family Healing, PLLC in 1991 where she maintains a private practice specializing in couples and families. Since 1988, she has been serving the Seattle area in various mental health capacities working with issues including communication, premarital, intimacy, sexuality, parenting, depression, anxiety, domestic violence, alcoholism, blended families, and sexual abuse. Loryann also has extensive experience working with 12-step recovery programs. In 1991, when I founded the Center for Couples and Family Healing, PLLC, my vision was to offer people the resources they need to improve the quality of relationships in their lives. Along the way, I have been humbled and awed by the work. Therapy can be an amazing experience and transformation when you have the right therapist.
