About Me
I am passionate about EMDR and am excited to be a consultant in training! In addition to using the standard EMDR protocol, I love incorporating somatic experiences and parts work. I specialize in working with creatives, and love how EMDR can be tailored to the individual and combined with other approaches such as sandtray, art and hypnotherapy. I am trained in EMDR 2.0 and Dr. Jarero's protocols including the ASSYST to support folks (in person and via telehealth) in recovering from a recent traumatic incident. I am also trained in Philip Manfield's Flash technique, which can be a really helpful tool to lower high levels of distress and to enhance emotional stability before beginning the processing stage of EMDR. I love to provide clients with education about trauma, and my approach is empathic, playful and creative.
Education & Experience
I received my Bachelors in 2001 in anthropology from UMass, Amherst and conducted fieldwork project in a Hungarian village in Romania for two semesters. I went on to get a Masters in social work at New Mexico Highlands University in 2006, focusing on clinical practice. After returning from the Peace Corps, I worked with children and families in New Mexico as a play therapist and soon became a Registered Play Therapist. I moved to Denver in 2013, where I worked in community mental health and then opened a private practice in 2016, now in Arvada. In my private practice I work with teens and adults, specializing in PTSD and trauma, body image issues, acculturation issues, spirituality, spiritual trauma and LGBTQ issues. Along with EMDR, I enjoy incorporating creative modalities to support people in their processing like sandtray/sandplay, art, guided meditation and hypnotherapy. I am also certified in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and find this interweaves beautifully with EMDR.
