About Me
I am trauma informed and believe that individuals are experts of their own life experiences. I specialize in working with issues related to anxiety, depression, grief and loss, sexual abuse & trauma, relationship difficulties as well as life transitions and acculturation issues. I encourage clients to take an active role in their healing journey. I help clients develop their strengths by providing a safe space where they can gain insight, explore possibilities and develop coping skills. I am trauma & social justice informed, and use a strength based client centered approach focusing on clients' resiliency. I am both bilingual (English/Spanish) and bicultural. I believe in the strength of the individual and their desire to change. I strongly believe in the power of a non-judgmental and supportive therapeutic relationship and empowering clients to live fuller and more authentic lives.
Education & Experience
I earned my Master of Social Work from Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. I hace two decades of clinical experience working in the area of mental heath in a variety of outpatient and private practice settings. I have worked with trauma victims (domestic violence, trafficking, sexual abuse, rape & sexual assault, torture and grief & loss) since 2003. My work with this population began at the DC Rape Crisis Center and has continued until today. I continue to attend trainings to expand my knowledge and be abreast of best practices in the field.
