About Me
I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, and stress. I empower my clients to surpass surviving and achieve thriving in their environment. I accomplish this by tailoring your treatment plan to the unique individual that you are. It will be based on your individual strengths and your treatment goals. I take the time to understand your concerns in your words and from your perspective. This will have a powerful impact on how we will define the problem and solve it together. I provide a warm, authentic and non-judgmental space in which you feel comfortable and safe. I employ evidence-based treatment, along with holistic therapies to empower growth and achieve whole-person healing. I believe you are capable of growth and will find healing. I am here to support you in that process.
Education & Experience
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who received my Masters of Social Work from New York University. I have over 11 years of practice experience. My career began working in the Bronx, NY serving women in high risk situations throughout their pregnancies. I later moved to Texas and worked for the Department of the Army for 7 years treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brian Injury (TBI). After working for the Army, I transitioned into my private practice, Brave Heart Counseling, PLLC. My areas of specialty include trauma, anxiety, grief and loss, and stress management. I draw from an eclectic pool of frameworks. I am passionate about tailoring a unique and individualized treatment plan for each of my clients. I believe in a holistic approach and integrates auricular acupuncture (if requested) into anyone's care to enhance a mind-body connection. While I am trained in several evidenced based modalities, I use EMDR the most often. I specialize in using EMDR with clients who have complex trauma, attachment wounds, sexual assault/rape, and deployment trauma. This can typically show up as people pleasing, PTSD symptoms, perfectionism, difficulty with boundaries and relationships, low self-worth, and feeling overly responsible for things. I have used EMDR extensively with these populations.
