About Me

When you come in for counselling support, I start by creating a relaxed atmosphere where you feel safe and are reassured that you've found someone who can help you truly face the issues you are experiencing. Sometimes, traumas from the past or the stress of current life can be overwhelming and your world becomes very narrow. Working together, you can develop the skills and flexibility you need to not only improve how you function but to actually enjoy all that home, work, and the rest of life brings to you. As your counsellor, I am committed to providing you with the necessary tools and techniques to overcome life's obstacles and achieve a balanced fulfilling life.

Education & Experience

I have a Bachelor and Master Degree in Social Work from UBC and over 20 years of experience helping others with mental health, addictions, trauma, and relationship issues in a variety of health care, community, and social service settings. I am the founder and lead clinician of The Life Balance and a proud member of the Trauma Counselling Team at Dr. Gordon Davidson Operational Stress & Recovery Program. Previous to this, I was the Clinical Supervisor and Instructor with UBC Okanagan School of Social Work at the Interdisciplinary Mental Health Clinic and the Interior Health Clinical Operations Manager for Mental Health and Substance Use Services in the North Okanagan. I use a variety of evidence based therapeutic methods, tools and techniques depending on your unique issues and life goals. I am knowledgeable, skilled and experienced in the following counselling models: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), The Gottman's Method for couples, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness Based Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for trauma.
