About Me

Dr. Megan Miranda received her doctoral degree from The University of Akron in Counselor Education and Supervision with a specialty in Marriage and Family Therapy.  She has years of experience working with couples, families and individuals ranging from early childhood through late adulthood on a variety of presenting concerns. She specializes in treating trauma and adverse events which impact individual’s sense of self. She is a certified EMDR therapist and Expressive Arts therapist, trained in both Yoga Unchained and Dancing Mindfulness.  Megan has a passion for assisting those she works with to gain self-compassion through understanding the neurobiological impact of trauma on mood and behaviors.    She is a seasoned educator and has taught several Master’s-level Counseling courses and is a trainer, supervisor and therapist at The Azalea Institute. She is an AAMFT approved supervisor, LPCC-S and IMFT-S. She is currently a Consultant in Training, working towards her EMDR consultant certification. She offers individual and group supervision/consultation for EMDR, MFT and LPC advancement. She offers a collaborative humanistic approach to supervision.

Education & Experience

I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from The University of Akron. I received my Master of Arts in Education in School Counseling from The University of Akron. I received my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision with a specialty in Marriage and Family Therapy from The University of Akron. I have over 10 years of clinical experience. I specialize in treating trauma disorders, family discord, relational strain, infidelity, childhood trauma among others.
