About Me

Melissa Pemberton is a trauma-aware therapist who works with individuals who have experienced trauma, as well as parents/caregivers and families who are raising children who have experienced adversity or trauma. She has experience working with families in the child welfare system since 2005 and is trained in a variety of trauma-aware curriculums. Melissa seeks to help families who are struggling with compassion fatigue, secondary trauma, and difficulties with big behaviors.

Education & Experience

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Washington. I have a BA in Child Development and Psychology and a Master in Social Work from Eastern Washington University. I worked in the field of Child Welfare since 2005 and left to start private practice in 2022, although I still do offer in-home support services to families who have adopted from the foster care system. I base my therapy practice in trauma-aware practices and have been trained in several trauma-informed modalities and curricula, such as Trust Based Relational Interventions as well as EMDR. I have many years of experience working with families who have experienced adversity, compassion fatigue, secondary trauma, and behavioral concerns.
