About Me

Nisha Thakker, Registered Psychotherapist Languages: English • Hindi • Gujarati In-person: Cambridge & Brantford • Virtual: Across Ontario Hi, I’m Nisha — a Registered Psychotherapist trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful, evidence-based approach for treating trauma, PTSD, and emotional distress. I specialize in supporting teens and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and major life transitions. Whether you’re coping with the impact of childhood wounds, recent traumatic events, or chronic emotional overwhelm, EMDR offers a safe, structured, and transformative path toward healing. My trauma-informed approach integrates EMDR with other evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and mindfulness-based practices. Each treatment plan is tailored to your individual needs and pace. As an immigrant myself, I understand the emotional layers of identity, belonging, and cultural transition. I’m committed to creating a warm, inclusive, and culturally sensitive space where your story is heard and honored. At the core of my work is a deep belief in your capacity to heal and grow — with the right support. I show up with authenticity, compassion, and without judgment, guided by the motto: “Meet people where they are, not where you expect them to be.” I offer therapy in English, Hindi, and Gujarati — in-person (Cambridge and Brantford) and virtually across Ontario — so you can connect in the language and setting that feels right for you. Outside the therapy room, I’m a proud mom and nature enthusiast. Gardening reminds me that healing, like growth, takes time, care, and the right environment. If you’re ready to explore trauma healing through EMDR or other supportive therapies, I’d be honored to walk alongside you. Reach out — your healing journey can start here.

Education & Experience

I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) from Yorkville University and am a Registered Psychotherapist in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). I have completed EMDRIA-approved training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and regularly pursue advanced education in trauma-informed care.

Professional & Volunteer Affiliations

I’m a Registered Psychotherapist with the CRPO and a trained EMDR therapist through an EMDRIA-approved program. I’m also involved in ongoing professional communities, including peer consultation groups and support networks for therapists working with trauma, motor vehicle accident recovery, and culturally diverse populations.
