About Me

I provide counseling to individuals working through transitions who want to live their lives more alignment with their values and purpose. I believe that the challenges we face in life are developmental in nature and that everyone has innate resources needed to meet these challenges, dance with life’s uncertainty, and live abundantly.

Education & Experience

Dr. Paige Bentley is the Director of Counseling & Well-Being Services and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She also is the owner of Bentley Counseling & Consulting, a private practice that provides coaching and counseling to individuals working through transitions who want to live their lives more alignment with their values and purpose. She also provides clinical supervision to new counseling professionals seeking licensure in NC. She holds a Ph.D., in Counseling & Counselor Education, is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHCS), a Registered Yoga Teacher, and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. Prior to coming to the Medical School she served as the Associate Director/Clinical Director of Health and Counseling Services at the University of North Carolina Asheville. Dr. Bentley also worked as Senior Mental Health Counselor for many years at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. She currently serves as an adjunct assistant professor in the Wake Forest University Department of Counseling. Dr. Bentley received her undergraduate degree from Wake Forest and worked for 10 years in journalism and public relations before returning to Wake Forest for her master’s degree in counseling and to the University of North Carolina Greensboro for her Ph.D. Dr. Bentley earned a Master Practitioner Certificate in Mindfulness and Psychotherapy from the National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral Medicine and has completed trainings in a number of mindfulness-based programs, including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) at Duke University, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). In addition, she is a Board Certified Coach, certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, EMDR trained clinician, certified clinical hypnotherapist, certified holistic stress management instructor, and a registered yoga instructor.
