About Me

After working in the commercial insurance industry for 15 years, I made the decision to go back to school and pursue my passion of being a mental health therapist. In 2014, after completing my bachelor’s degree, I began working in the mental health field. I started by providing BHIS services to individuals and families in their home. This provided great hands-on experiences in working with each client on a deeper level. While providing BHIS services, I was also working on my master’s degree in Clinical Counseling and started my basic EMDR training. That is when I found myself very interested in learning all that I could about complex trauma and co-occurring disorders. I married my husband in 2000, and I am proud to still be married today. Together we have 3 children. Two of our children are now adults and we have a much younger child that we adopted. When I am not working you can find me at home, spending time with my family and friends or sitting on my back porch. Our family loves camping, boating, and traveling. My family has been a huge support for me throughout my journey from insurance to therapist. I am eternally grateful for their support.

Education & Experience

I completed my basic EMDR training in 2018. Since that time, I have completed extensive EMDR training in working with complex cases with children and adults. I have developed a deep passion working with clients with dissociative disorders and severe complex trauma. It is important to me to stay active and up to date on trainings and research in these areas. I have completed three different Child Specialist Trainings by Ana Gomez. I have also completed many trainings by Kathy Steele and Dolores Mosquera, along with participating in their monthly consultation group on complex cases. I also participate in a weekly consultation group with other colleagues in the EMDR field. I am passionate about learning and understanding how trauma impacts each person individually and at all ages and stages of their life. It is important for me to understand each person and their individual experiences with a goal of helping them live a happy, healthy, and whole life. I also have training in Circle of Security (parenting), PCIT-Iowa (Parent Child Interaction Therapy), Sandtray, DBT (Dialect Behavioral Therapy) and Somatic approaches.
