About Me

Hello! My lived experiences have taught me that life at times can be challenging, painful and overwhelming. These moments often result in the physical and emotional memories of those experiences becoming locked into feelings of guilt, anxiety, fear, shame and loneliness; preventing us from creating satisfying, meaningful, fulfilling and nurturing relationships – with ourselves and others. My hopes are to support you in exploring and rediscovering your internal resources, finding your inner resilience and strength; exploring answers to your feelings, inner turmoil and questions. Answers you might seek are- how do I deal with the pit in my stomach, or why do I feel so anxious all the time, and why can’t I sleep through the night; what is my body trying to tell me? Often the critical voice in our head holds us back and feelings of spinning round and round arise causing us to feel stuck, as we repeatedly relive the painful feelings. My intention is to support you in your wellness journey and to encourage you to embrace life transitions as opportunities and view multipart situations as introspective leanings and understanding.

Education & Experience

After many years of working as a designer and educator I decided to shift my focus and completed my post graduate in art therapy at Vancouver Art Therapy Institute. I am a registered art therapist, (RCAT). I hold a Master (M. A.) in Education from Simon Fraser University. I received my EMDR training and consultation from Jasmine Alexander at the EMDR Center of Canada. I continued my learning journey with an emphasis on advanced protocols and parts work. In addition, I am trained in Internal Family systems, and other modalities such as DBT, ADHD, autism awareness and somatic responsiveness. Additional EMDR trainings I have attended were by Dr Dolores Mosquera, Dr Ariella Swartz, Megan McQuary as well as extensive training in working with children from Dr Ana Gomez, Annie Monaco and Ann Beckley Forest. I continue to engage and seek consultation in EMDR from several experts in the EMDR field. I find integrating parts work, somatic awareness and art therapy with EMDR can often result in successful outcomes for clients who dissociate and have complex traumas.
