Dr. Samantha Calvillo, DSW, LCSW

About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) specializing in EMDR for survivors of sexual assault, complex trauma, and cultural identity challenges. With a BA in Sociology, MSW, and Doctorate in Social Work, I integrate research-based care with a deep understanding of cultural factors, particularly in working with Latina and Latinx clients. My approach is warm, collaborative, and empowering—honoring each client’s voice, pace, and cultural context throughout the healing process.

Education & Experience

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from California State University-East Bay, my Master's in Social Welfare (MSW) from UCLA, and my doctorate in social work (DSW) from the University of Kentucky. I have years of experience providing trauma-focused care in diverse settings, including rape crisis centers, hospital emergency departments, and private practice. My work has centered on supporting survivors of sexual assault, adults navigating life transitions or anxiety, and cultural identity challenges, with a special focus on Latina and Latinx clients. In addition to my clinical work, I have provided crisis intervention, forensic accompaniment, and advocacy for survivors navigating medical, legal, and systemic processes. My training and practice in EMDR are complemented by extensive experience integrating other evidence-based modalities, allowing me to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs and cultural background.
