About Me
Sara Rice (pronouns: she/hers) M.A., LPC is a professional mental health counselor and a proud wife of an Army Veteran for over a decade now. She is also a mother of 4 children that range in age from high school to kindergarten and a foster mother to an infant little boy. Sara received her counseling masters from Liberty University and is on a continued pursuit of knowledge to better serve those she works with. Sara specializes in working with individuals with severe depression, including Bipolar disorder, substance use disorders, trauma (Post Traumatic Stress, Women's Issues, Spiritual Abuse), and working with those in the LGBTQ+ community. When she is not working, she is delving into documentaries of all sorts (historical in nature, how things are made, or even about Blockbuster "yup, the video store") she can also be caught binging on true crime shows.
Education & Experience
Experienced psychotherapist and clinical supervisor with advanced training in complex trauma, dissociative disorders, and PTSD. She is working towards an Ed.D. in Community Care and Counseling (Traumatology Cognate) in progress at Liberty University, along with a CACREP-accredited M.A. in Professional Counseling and a B.S. in Psychology. Since 2019, she has owned and operated Koinonia Counseling Center, where she provides specialized assessment and treatment for chronic trauma, DID, and co-occurring conditions. Her clinical background includes substance use treatment, community mental health, psychodynamic and EMDR-based interventions, and comprehensive diagnostic evaluation. She has completed multiple advanced certifications in dissociation, EMDR, military trauma, functional neurological disorders, and hypnosis, and she is an active member of ISSTD, EMDRIA, WPATH, and the Functional Neurological Disorder Society.
