About Me

I believe each client is unique with purpose and gifts and in therapy, we work to make sense of your past, improve your present and move you toward a future that feels hopeful for you. My specialization is treating trauma, PTDS, anxiety disorders, complex grief and parents of children with special needs. I have extensive experience in treating addictions, mood disorders, life transitions, spirituality, and women's issues. Through the therapy process you will receive professional mental health expertise, accountability on your goals, a gentle supportive environment and a healing space just for you. I use a variety of modalities to treat clients including Attachment based therapy, Client Centered Therapy, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution focused therapy. I will provide a safe space that is free of judgement and offer active listening to suport you in defining & achieving your goals related to improved mental/emotional health, coping skills, parenting skills, communication skills, resolving trauma, managing anxiety and stress management, and setting boundaries with others.

Education & Experience

Sarah graduated with a Masters in Social work from Louisiana State University and has been practicing clinical social work for over 20 years. Sarah is an experienced therapist specializing in the treatment of children, adults, teens and families with special needs who have suffered trauma, children in foster care, and adoptive families. Building trust and rapport with children and their families is the first step to effective treatment. Sarah has extensive experience in working with parents of children with special needs to cope with all the changes and stress that comes with parenting in this capacity. Sarah offers both Christian faith-based counseling as well as traditional psychotherapy and EMDR. Sarah uses an integrated family approach to include the entire family in the treatment process when working with children and teens. She uses an attachment based therapy and has worked over the years with children dealing with severe attachment issues, grief and loss, and adjustment issues. Sarah uses a client based approach to determine the best modality of treatment to fit each clients need. Counseling and therapy can provide new hope, helping clients discover or redefine the path to achieving goals and bringing deeper meaning to their lives. Sarah believes that each person is unique, with individual purposes and gifts. She works well with adult individuals and couples, children, adolescents and families, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR and other integrative therapeutic techniques from a holistic perspective. Sarah has done extensive postgraduate work in art therapy, play therapy and often utilizes expressive arts therapies and play therapy to help clients work through difficulties and trauma. In addition to her specialties in working with children, Sarah has extensive experience in working with dually diagnosed adults who have both mental illness and substance abuse. She has counseled couples and works well with parents on coparenting and has completed certification to provide Parent coordination and facilitation.
