About Me
As a trauma-informed, strengths-based therapist, I don’t believe in pathologizing or labeling clients. You aren’t broken or bad; rather, you may have learned to protect and care for yourself in ways that no longer serve you. Therapy can help shed light on these patterns, and with awareness comes choice – once we’re able to identify and understand our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, we can begin to transform them for the better. Together, you and I can uncover what lies at the root of your issues and explore new strategies for creating positive change. I am passionate about working with individuals struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship and family issues, and low self-esteem. I take an integrative, holistic approach to therapy, incorporating modalities such as EMDR, IFS, somatic therapies, and CBT, as well as elements of mindfulness, self-compassion, and attachment theory. Ultimately, however, I believe therapy should be a collaborative process, and we can work together to see how our sessions can best meet your unique needs. Facing the past, unearthing negative beliefs, and embracing new mindsets can be a scary and overwhelming process, but you don’t have to go through it alone. My goal is to create a warm, compassionate space where you feel safe to practice self-exploration and embrace change. If you think we might be a good fit, please don’t hesitate to reach out and I’d be happy to discuss what our work together could look like.
Education & Experience
I received my Bachelors in Psychology from Bates College and went on to work in the corporate world for several years before pursuing my true calling of becoming a therapist. I went on to receive my MSW from NYU and started working in a trauma treatment center here in New York City and completed training for EMDR I and TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). I am now working at The Loom, a private practice in New York City that is focused on exploring how all of our relationships impact the quality of our lives. I believe that through EMDR and other trauma-informed approaches, I am best able to support my clients in living their most connected and fulfilling lives.
