About Me
With 23 years of experience in social work, including 13 years specializing in psychotherapy, I consider this work my true calling. My journey has been guided by a commitment to understanding the human experience and by my own encounters with adversity and trauma, which have given me profound respect for the resilience of the brain and body and our natural capacity to heal when the right conditions are present. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and relational challenges through an attachment-focused, embodied approach, integrating EMDR with yoga, pranayama (breath control), and meditation—ancient Hindu teachings from my Indian heritage that form the foundation of mindfulness practice. While Western yoga often emphasizes posture, its Vedic roots extend to training the mind and heart—nurturing focus, stillness, and love, while cultivating surrender and detachment. Yoga invites us to transcend habitual patterns, soften the ego’s grip, and deepen connection with the Self and the greater flow of life. Combined, yoga, pranayama, and meditation cultivate presence, deepen awareness, and foster steadiness, offering clients a holistic path to transformation beyond talk therapy. Similarly, EMDR supports these processes, helping us access inner clarity, release what no longer serves us, and integrate new ways of being with greater ease. At the heart of my work is the understanding that healing occurs from the inside out through the integration of brain, body, and being. I trust the body’s innate wisdom, the subtle intelligence guiding us toward flexibility, emotional resilience, and deeper connection with ourselves and others. I remain committed to continual growth as a therapist, staying current with research and advanced training to best support clients. I also offer consultation to therapists, both new and experienced, seeking EMDR certification and guidance in strengthening their trauma practice.
