About Me

With over a decade of experience, Stephen has provided a range of mental health and social services. His roles include sexual health educator, victim’s advocate, crisis responder for survivors of sexual and violent crimes, Ryan White medical case manager for individuals newly diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, and mental health counselor in both agency and private practice settings. He is proud to be an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist and has actively participated in the queer community for many years. Additionally, Stephen has been involved in HIV/AIDS advocacy for over 30 years and contributed to the congressional passage of the Ryan White CARE Act of 1990. Stephen is committed to helping clients find greater peace, resilience, and joy. His compassionate approach incorporates evidence-based therapies, which may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Gestalt Experiential Techniques, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and other methods tailored to each client’s goals. Currently, he offers in-person sessions only.

Education & Experience

Stephen is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Board-Certified Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). He earned his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Webster University in 2021. Stephen is currently pursuing specialized training in offering sex and sexuality-based therapy services.
