About Me

Steve Brownrigg is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Steve received a BSBA, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Georgetown University in 1978. He began his own recovery from alcoholism in 1997 and, following years of experience working with addicts and alcoholics at a non-professional level, he returned to school in 2003 and earned a Masters degree in Community Counseling at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and completed other educational requirements to obtain a License in Drug & Alcohol Counseling. He is also Certified in the use of EMDR by EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), a therapeutic tool he uses for the resolution of Trauma and Childhood Issues. Steve’s major field of specialty is in the treatment of “Co-Occurring Disorders,” or those persons challenged by both Substance Abuse/Dependency Disorders as well as other Mental Health Disorders. Steve draws from a variety of therapeutic disciplines, combining Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution Focused, 12-Step Facilitation, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) and other approaches in his work. Following a year of providing therapy at a local Agency as a Dually-Credentialed Therapist, he opened his Private Practice, Addiction & Recovery Services in 2006.
