Mrs. Terra Shishido, LMHC, M.S.,B.S.
Preferred Name: Terra
About Me
Terra holds a Master of Science in Counseling and Psychology from Troy University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Maryland University College. She is EMDR Certified, IFS level 2 trained, and an ADHD Certified Clinical Services Provider (ADHD-CCSP). Before becoming a counselor, Terra spent many years supporting the well-being of military service members and their families through programs such as the Key Spouse program and Military Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS). With over 2 decades as a military spouse, she understands what it means to face uncertainty, adapt to major life transitions, and carry experiences that shape who we become. Her time living abroad has expanded her cultural awareness and strengthened her ability to connect with people from a wide range of backgrounds. Terra also draws from her own history of growing up in a complex family system. These early experiences created a deep appreciation for the ways people learn to protect themselves, survive difficult environments, and navigate relationships that do not always feel safe. This informs her ability to recognize and honor the internal worlds her clients have built to endure their lives. This personal insight enhances her capacity to sit with others in their pain and to witness their resilience with compassion and respect. In her therapeutic work, Terra integrates the empowering principles of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and the healing structure of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She approaches therapy with warmth, curiosity, and a steady presence, helping clients connect with their inner strengths, build self-leadership, and heal emotional burdens from the inside out. Clients often describe her style as grounding, supportive, and gently challenging in ways that promote meaningful and lasting change. With Terra, you will find a space where you are deeply seen, heard, and valued. She believes in creating a collaborative healing relationship where clients can explore their experiences safely, develop compassion for themselves, and move toward greater balance and inner clarity.
