About Me

I’m Valencia Hargrove, LPC, an EMDR-trained therapist and the owner of Women’s Wellness Center Virginia. To say that I’m one of the biggest champions of women, especially expectant, new & seasoned moms, is an understatement. In 2013, as a healthy start clinician at a local community mental health center, I began providing psychosocial support and counseling to perinatal women battling substance abuse. I’ve been in this field for two decades and in practice for almost ten years, working with professional and everyday women to manage the stresses that come with pregnancy and motherhood. My practice is exclusively virtual, giving women the convenience of seeking mental health within the confines that fit their lifestyle. I’m licensed to practice in Virginia and Florida. I’m originally from Chocolate City, a.k.a. Washington D.C, but I call Richmond, Virginia home. My soft spot for women comes from my great grandmother—she was my hero and an example of true grace and resiliency. My closest friends and colleagues would describe me as funny, caring, down-to-earth, and at times brutally honest (I most certainly got that from my nana). Through my practice, I want to eliminate the mental health disparities that keep women in the Black and Brown communities from seeking help and having to access mental health services. I want to continue to help women strike a healthy balance between catering to their and their children’s needs and dispelling the myths and judgment that come with perinatal and postpartum depression and the struggles of motherhood. If you’re here for yourself or seeking information for a loved one, I implore you to set up a time for a phone consultation to help the healing process to begin. See you soon!
