About Me
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario as well as a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I am trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as well as EMDR, and I am informed by the following modalities/disciplines: person-centered therapy, psychodynamic therapy, attachment theory, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, neuropsychology, and evolutionary psychology. I have received additional EMDR training for Eating Disorders, Anxiety Disorders & OCD, and attachment injuries. I often work with clients who present with developmental/interpersonal trauma.
Education & Experience
I received my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Loyola University Chicago, where I completed my internship working with vulnerable populations. This experience along with training in multicultural counselling lead to my dedication to providing anti-oppressive and trauma-informed treatment when working with clients. I have mainly worked in private practice setting and this has given me an opportunity to work with clients long-term. The main reason for training in EMDR is observing that most clients who need years-long treatment present with trauma or adverse childhood experiences. EMDR helps us work through deeply held core beliefs as well as guide the body towards learning what the mind might already know.
