As an EMDRIA Certified Therapist in EMDR or EMDRIA Approved Consultant in EMDR, you have committed to continuing your education in the field of EMDR by participating in 12 EMDRIA Credit hours every two years. EMDRIA administers an audit process which allows us to ensure that requirements are consistently being met each cycle without requiring everyone to submit EMDRIA Credit documentation for each renewal.
Note: Please keep your email address up to date in your EMDRIA profile so that we have the correct contact information for your reminder notices. To update your email address, please login to view your member profile.
How to Renew Your Credential
Starting three months prior to your expiration, we reach out to you directly via email with instructions to renew your EMDR credential status. You will be alerted at that time whether your renewal was selected in the audit.
If selected in the audit, you will be prompted to upload your credits for staff review. Once approved, you will receive a second email prompting you to then complete an online Credential Declaration Form and pay.
If you weren’t selected in the audit, you will be prompted to complete an online Credential Declaration Form and pay.
We will be sending up to five email reminder notices regarding your upcoming credential renewal.
*If you get a blank page with just the title, no worries. That just means you didn’t log in to your EMDRIA account first. Please log in to your EMDRIA account first, then go back to the reminder email and click on the link.
Do you need EMDRIA Credits?
If you are in need of EMDRIA Credits, the Continuing Education tab on our website lists all of the current continuing education options that have been reviewed and approved by EMDRIA. The completion certificates should list the EMDRIA program approval number as well as the number of EMDRIA credits the workshop was approved for.
There are three options listed:
- EMDRIA OnDemand recorded workshops
- Upcoming live events on our EMDR Education Calendar
- Distance Learning options

Is your EMDRIA Credential expired?
If your EMDRIA Credential expires, EMDRIA may offer you a grace period of 3 months. After 3 months, our system marks your credential status as expired.
If your credential has been expired for 3 months to 1 year, your credential will be marked as inactive but if you renew within this 1 year period, your credential will be backdated. You will receive a final email letting you know your credential has expired along with the link to renew. Please email info@emdria.org if you need that link sent to you again.
If your credential has been expired for 1 to 5 years, your credential status will be marked as inactive, and if you renew within this 5 year period you will pay a reinstatement fee, and your credential dates will be adjusted accordingly. To reinstate your credential, you will need to complete and submit the reinstatement form below.
Please allow 3 weeks for processing once reinstatement materials have been received. Please only send submissions to the office one time by one method (scan, fax, OR mail). To reinstate your EMDR credential status, please submit the following to the EMDRIA Office:
- Certification Reinstatement Form or Approved Consultant Reinstatement Form
- Certificate(s) of completion for 12 hours of EMDRIA Credits (continuing education in EMDR) completed within the past two years
- Reinstatement Fees
- Certification ($175 for EMDRIA Members, $375 for NonMembers)
- Approved Consultant ($275 for EMDRIA Members, $475 for NonMembers)
If your EMDRIA credential has been expired for more than 5 years, you are expected to reapply in entirety. View the EMDR Certification criteria and form here.
