Approved for 7 EMDRIA Credits

EMDR works well with a variety of clients and challenges because it utilizes everyone’s natural ability to digest experiences via the Adaptive Information Processing Model (AIP). EMDR also adapts well to the inclusion of elements of other therapies, techniques, and protocols, which can help clients build internal resources, reduce symptoms, and utilize EMDR more efficiently and effectively for healing. Via discussion, scripts, client videos and some practicum, clinicians will tour several techniques and protocols that clinicians can use before, during and after using EMDR with clients. The itinerary includes preparation techniques called “Utilizing Positive Culture and Community Experiences,” and “Positive Parts on the Team.” Then we’ll make a stop and learn the Early Trauma Protocol (Paulsen, S., and O’Shea, K.), and an interactive way to bring EMDR to clients called “Scribble it Out” (Kiessling, R.). We’ll conclude our tour with “Urge to Avoid” (Knipe, J.), and a review of “Feeling State Protocol” (Miller, B. if time permits).

Presenter: Kriss Jarecki, LCSW
