Approved for 2 EMDRIA Credits
EMDR therapy can be used as part of a comprehensive plan to increase a client’s stability, reduce a client’s reactivity to triggers for using or acting out, and for identifying underlying trauma that the client has not been aware of or has denied. In this interactive study group, the emphasis will be on practice and practical steps to integrate EMDR therapy with addiction treatment. We will review the addiction-focused protocols, the available research, and learn/practice the protocol steps for use with clients. Each participant will be asked to identify a real-life urge or compulsive behavior they wish to change and to practice these steps with other participants. *Please note that although the experiential portion of this study group is key to learning the steps to work with clients, the practicum portion of this study group is not mandatory and participants will be able to opt out.
