How do we utilize our knowledge of the neurobiology of consciousness and human development to enhance our therapeutic techniques? Can this neurobiological knowledge be employed as a central core of understanding, bringing together the myriad psychological theories of psychotherapy that often are more divisive than unifying? Can this data and understanding of the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model allow us to conceptualize EMDR treatment, on a case-by-case/moment-to-moment basis, rather than relying on scripted protocols which do not address the unique treatment of requirements of our patients?
