Approved for 6 EMDRIA Credits

EMDR is a powerful, evidence-based integrative therapy developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro. Child Centered Play Therapy is a modality utilized to engage children and adolescents requiring creativity, playfulness and understanding of the therapeutic powers of play. Integrating Child Centered Play Therapy with EMDR can be a powerful mechanism in helping children and adolescents recover from big T traumas, little t traumas and other stressful life events. With child-centered play therapy and sand tray therapy modalities, participants learn how to navigate history taking, resourcing and desensitization and reprocessing with creative and playful interventions. Special focus will be made on adaptive information processing with children and adolescents, and how AIP and Play Therapy provide clients the optimal stage for reprocessing adverse childhood experiences and the resulting negative beliefs. This training will also provide guidance on childhood diagnosis, conceptualization, treatment planning, parent and guardian involvement, ethics and confidentiality. This course is for therapists who have completed an EMDRIA approved EMDR basic training.
