Approved for 4 EMDRIA Credits

Children with attachment injuries and complex trauma did not receive what they needed to form a coherent and integrated sense of self. Instead, they had to make numerous adaptations and rely on defenses in order to survive. Without secure experiences of attachment, mentalizing capacities do not develop as well as the awareness of their intrapersonal and interpersonal world. The inner and the outer world become enmeshed and undisguisable, and if the outer world was traumatizing, now the child becomes fearful and phobic of their internal experiences. This workshop will address the theoretical foundations as well as the practical applications of working with attachment wounds in children with complex traumatization during processing phases of EMDR treatment. When working with developmental trauma, titration is paramount and as such, this workshop will address multiple levels of titration going from full processing to micro-processing where only small kernels of information are accessed and moved to an adaptive resolution. A multimodal approach of EMDR therapy with children will be presented that includes play therapy, sandtray and expressive arts amongst others. This event will be simultaneously live streamed.
