As therapists, we know that helping patients understand what EMDR Therapy is and how it works can be one of the most significant challenges. When we are met with resistance, it is our responsibility to explain, in layperson’s terms, in order to ensure client buy in, build trust in our skills as clinicians and in the EMDR Therapy process itself. From intake through completion of a selected target, participants will be guided through rapport, history, target selection, and accelerated processing strategies to avoid delays in treatment.  Participants will understand and explain AIP and EMDR Therapy to clients through useful metaphors and analogies. Additionally, a focus on the adjustment of BLS which reduces blocking and dissociation during processing via dual taxation memory strategies will be learned. Enhanced buy in and improved therapeutic efficacy expedites processing in C-PTSD cases.
