This event will provide an outline of factors relevant to understanding trauma in forensic populations, with attention to the role of complex trauma responding, adverse childhood experiences and offending. From this, it is aimed that delegates will be able to identify how to account for such factors in EMDR therapy in relation to assessment, preparation, processing memories and installing cognitions, as particular areas of relevance. This will include focused attention on the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model and how this applies to forensic populations, using case studies to illustrate. Focus will be on the standard EMDR protocol with reference to other protocols for consideration, as relevant. It will include the EMDR – Case Formulation and Readiness Map for Forensic Clients (EMDR – CRFM).
Presenter: Jane Ireland, Ph.D.
