Participants will learn the definitions of cultural competence and EMDR therapy. They will review the basic protocols of each of the 8 phases while maintaining ethical standards. They will acquire material on how to prepare their clients for EMDR therapy in an ethical way. Participants will learn resourcing and have a better understanding of when to move to phase 4. They will be able to demonstrate use of culturally competent considerations during the 8 phases. Participants will be able to differentiate when to use cognitive interweaves or going back to the target memory. They will be able to discuss setting boundaries and self-care as an EMDR therapist. Lastly, they will walk away with handouts and scripts to help implement what they have learned right away.
