Trauma is itself a meaningless experience, which generates sensations that are difficult to communicate. In complex trauma, the source of traumatization is predominantly interpersonal, has to do with a dysfunctional attachment style. In these cases, understanding the emotional and the relational aspects is a challenge both for patient and therapist. Finally, in the area of dissociation, the non-realization about what has been experienced and its consequences is even greater. Therefore, giving meaning to the patient’s experience, and doing so in the context of an interpersonal relationship, is not the preamble to therapy, but the core of the therapeutic process. Whatever our therapeutic model, for working with complex trauma and dissociation, it is necessary for the therapist to work on a comprehensive psychoeducational approach and to develop with the patient a complete reformulation of their problem and their history. In this live webinar the more relevant areas will be described, and resources, techniques, metaphors and clinical examples will be provided to the attendees both at the group and individual level. These contents are based on the book It’s Not Me: Understanding Complex Trauma, Attachment and Dissociation. A guide for patients and families.
