This live webinar will offer an overview of clinical assessment strategies for dissociation and dissociative disorders. We will examine the different symptoms that are labeled dissociative and what questions to ask to explore with the client their dissociative experiences. In addition, specific strategies for assessing dissociative disorders will be offered. Measurement instruments will be briefly discussed, but the focus will be on clinical interview skills. The webinar will also discuss how to conceptualize a case, providing the therapist a meta-view of how the dissociative client is organized, and opening a path toward a rational, coherent treatment plan. We will explore how to assess specific prognostic factors and set collaborative and reasonable therapeutic goals. Participants will learn how to focus on process-oriented approaches that are directed toward addressing and changing the client’s defensive and dissociative organization.
