Approved for 6 EMDRIA Credits
EMDR adaptations for neurodivergent clients have become more popular as more clinicians understand that there is a need to provide accommodations for EMDR to meet the needs of neurodivergent clients. Considering that studies show that neurodivergent individuals are at a higher risk of trauma than the general population and therefore more in need of EMDR treatment, EMDR clinicians must know the skills and tools to provide accommodations to neurodivergent clients. This training will explain the history of neurodiversity-affirming EMDR, reveal what clients would need for EMDR to be relatable to their neurotypes, give detailed information on accommodations to traditional EMDR that still adhere to fidelity of the process, and expand each clinician’s skill set through both lecture and practice on applying these tools in a small group on each other
