Approved for 6 EMDRIA Credits
EMDR therapy is an evidence-based treatment for trauma and adversity reactions and other emotional problems encountered in childhood, but how can we get children to do the protocol? Adaptations which integrate basic play therapy principles and approaches with the 8 phases of EMDR make the benefits of EMDR available to all ages. Understanding the role of attachment figures and how to involve them in the EMDR process along with movement, play and creativity is to key to our success in using EMDR with children. And in complex trauma, we must add the challenge of understanding and managing dissociative symptoms to that work.
