This workshop will explore the distinctive EMDR conceptualization and treatment concerns relevant to male clients. The presenter will address crucial cultural concerns that will benefit all EMDR therapists who treat men, the foundational factors essential for effective EMDR therapy with men, as well as ego state and IFS-informed treatment planning, interweaves, and reprocessing for male clients. The workshop will address how to surmount common blocks in reprocessing with special protocols, including Ulrich Lanius’ Bottom-Up Protocol, Jim Knipe’s Level of Urge to Avoid (LOUA) procedure, and somatically-informed cognitive interweaves and will also explore a newly peer-reviewed and published AIP model method of action, the Zeigarnik effect, and how this may inform both target conceptualization and relieve blocked reprocessing during phase 4.
Presenter: Jeremy Fox, LPC
