*Approved for 6 EMDRIA Credits as a deviation from the EMDRIA Definition of EMDR

This is an overview of trauma and a review of the theory and practice of the Flash Technique as part of the Preparation Phase (Phase 2) of EMDR. This course will discuss the use of positive engaging focus (PEF) in the Flash Technique (FT) as well as obstacles preventing the successful use of FT, such as feeder memories and blocking beliefs, and the presenter will address ways to get around those obstacles. The course will also discuss the use of FT for highly traumatized individuals, using calming and experiential PEFs.

Presenter: Sik-Lam Wong, Ph.D., LMFT

*A program that deviates from the EMDRIA Definition of EMDR is considered an alternative procedure, protocol or explanation other than the standard EMDR protocol and shows promise in enhancing clinical skills and extending the application of EMDR-based theory/methodology.
