Traumatized patients often feel unsafe in their initial therapy meeting. Telling their story can be overwhelming and make them not want to return to the therapist’s office. Learn to obtain the information needed in order to begin treatment planning without dysregulating patients. This workshop teaches clinicians how to establish emotional safety, obtain relevant information, and engage patients effectively in treatment. Learn to set expectations, use pacing and language to establish safety, provide psycho-education, prioritize getting to know the patient’s nervous system rather than their story, and help patients stay in their Window of Tolerance
Presenter: Megan Eliot, Ph.D.
