Transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) people experience higher rates of trauma, discrimination, and suicide risk and thus have unique therapeutic needs. As EMDR therapists, we need to be prepared to understand their experiences and adapt the EMDR process accordingly. Participants will gain 1) a basic understanding of the TGNC experience, 2) strategies for conceptualizing and treating gender dysphoria and trauma, and 3) learn ways of applying the EMDR standard protocol with TGNC people.
