The Diversity, Community, and Culture SIG provides a forum for dedicated discussions regarding inter-sectional clinical issues of interest relevant to communities of color and LGBTQ communities. The membership invites clinicians who are working with (or who are interested in working with) these issues in under served and diverse communities, especially in community mental health. We also desire to promote the advancement of clinicians from these communities through the process of becoming consultants and trainers. Our SIG practices and embraces anti-racism, cultural humility, and social justice. As a group, we advocate for EMDR research, education, and training of benefit to diverse ethnicities, races, cultures, and sexualities. The members share clinical perceptions, resources, and best practices relevant to the integration of EMDR therapy in the healing of trauma caused by all forms of oppression. This SIG is facilitated as a collective power sharing SIG. We work towards goals together have communal decision-making and rotating moderators.
