The eight-phase three-prong standard EMDR protocol is usually the most proficient way to facilitate EMDR. However, in certain circumstances and with certain special populations modifications can be used so long as the goal of the phase or prong is achieved. This online course emphasizes the importance of understanding the standard EMDR protocol before making modifications for the special population of children and youth. It emphasizes the importance of the development of the EMDR therapist as a factor in becoming effective in working with children and youth. The course reviews the eight phases and three prongs of the standard EMDR protocol and gives examples of modifications for each phase and prong when working with children and youth and also reviews and gives several practical take-away resources to participants for each phase. Participants will leave the course with a direction and template to begin facilitating EMDR with children and youth.
